Speak Bird, Speak Again: 45 folktales for Gaza

On Friday 15th August, come and read or listen to 45 Palestinian folktales collected in the beautiful book Speak Bird, Speak Again by Ibrahim Muhawi and Sharif Kanaana.

This is a drop in session intended as a vigil, with no discussions or other words; just reading for as long as it takes to complete the tales. We will begin reading at 6pm, and you are welcome to stay for the whole 45 tales, or to come only for a few. It is uncertain what time the session will end. Some tales are just one page, others are longer.

The book will be passed from person to person; if you wish to read you can, otherwise pass the book to the next person. Please let yourself into the room quietly and find somewhere to sit or stand without disturbing the room. You’re very welcome to bring food; there will be hot and cold drinks available for free.

There will be a box to donate cash, as well as a tap-to-donate system. All proceeds go to UNICEF.
