ANIMISM IN THE CONTEMPORARY REALM: Recognition and co-creation

Tickets: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/mare1/1916034

How can we as Artists/Makers re-cognise, re-concile and co-create with the more than human?

MARE presents the first in a series of workshops and eventual longer course using an alternative art school model, aiming to promote theoretical discussion and application of ideas which have been historically suppressed or sidelined in critical academic environments.

What to expect
Preparation ...

Students will have 3/4 short texts sent out to them to read a couple of weeks before the seminar and will be asked to choose one they wish to focus on

Morning session
*  Morning introductions, overview and definitions of the day’s theory
*  Talk/lecture introducing main topics brought up in the texts
*  Group work discussing the 3/4 texts
*  Discussion and short group presentations of which text you chose to focus on

LUNCH BREAK

Afternoon session

* presentatation talk highlighting contemporary artists addressing these areas
* Art Making ^, either communally or individual facilitated and supported by the day’s theme, as a beginning sketch for individuals to work with over the next month before the catch up session.

^ any art materials whether 2D/3D are provided and change according to the workshops

* homework and suggested reading list will be supplied on the day

Your ticket includes the full day seminar workshop.  Included in the price is the option to take part in a 2 hour zoom session with the group in a months time,  where we review and analyse any work made in response to the workshop.

This school model is intended for those either potential, emerging or established artists who want to expand their theoretical toolkit regarding the many layered relationship between ecology and esoteric practices.

Please be aware the day will include meditation and discussion of magickal techniques, although prior knowledge isn't necessary, an openness and ability to take on new ideas is.
