Collaborative Vocal Improv - Drop-in Summer Sessions
with Katie Rose White
Overview
A journey into voice, nature based play and collective creativity
After the success of our experimental lab series we are now taking our vocal improvisation sessions outside!
These sessions are a playful and embodied space to explore your voice through movement, improvisation, and collaborative sound-making.
We'll be exploring our connection to the land, voicing to and with nature; singing together in response to the weather, plants, animals and insects around us. We'll be experimenting with sound making, creating music together, harmony, rhythm and honing our skills of vocal improvisation.
This is an opportunity to free your voice and explore the realms of Collaborative Vocal Improvisation techniques whilst connecting to nature. We'll play games, improvise, and connect through our voices and creativity.
Each session is an invitation to:
Play with your voice without judgement
Connect with yourself, others and nature through sound, breath, mindfulness, play and grounded movement
Collaborate spontaneously to create improvised music
Express whatever wants to emerge
Discover confidence, ease, and joy in improvising together
You don’t need any musical training or experience — just a willingness to explore and play.
The aim is for you to feel...
more connected to your voice, singing and music making
more comfortable improvising
more open, expressive, and trusting of your creative instincts
nourished by the experience of creating with others in nature
slightly addicted to creating new songs using only your voice!
There’s no performance, no pressure, and no “right” way to sound.
Just a supportive group, a playful atmosphere, and space to discover whatever wants to unfold.
What to Expect
A warm, welcoming environment
Embodied movement woven with vocal exploration
Structured prompts, games and exercises
Moments of group sounding, circle singing, solo exploration, and collective improvisation
Freedom to follow what feels alive in the moment
Each workshop will follow a loose theme, but the emphasis will be to let the session be shaped collaboratively — by you, the group, and the energy in the room.
Who Is This For?
Anyone curious about voice, improvisation, expression, connection, presence, or creative play.
Everyone is welcome. Whether you're a beginner or experienced singer, this is a space to play, learn and explore.

Testimonial
'Learning improvised singing with Katie was an absolute joy. It's a powerful, playful practice that fills the heart to the brim. Katie is great fun and an excellent teacher. Our sessions were relaxed, welcoming and full of encouragement. They really boosted my confidence with singing and improvising harmonies - something I never imagined I'd be able to do. It was a genuinely uplifting experience, and I'd encourage anyone to give it a try.'
