On Sacred Hunger: Ritual Pleasure for Embodiment and Resistance

What becomes possible personally, collectively and politically when pleasure is treated as a sacred and transgressive practice?
This talk is an invitation to think differently about the erotic, the magical and the body. Drawing on their practice as a somatic coach, bodyworker and occultist, Ellie Howell makes the case that sex magic deserves a wider audience, and that the shroud around witchcraft can and must be lifted.
Can embodied eroticism inform the ways in which we face the world we live in, and enlarge our lives with purpose and joy too?
Expect a conversation about body sovereignty, ritual, desire and resistance. Together we will explore what it means to use pleasure and the body as primary instruments of transformation, and the act of choosing to inhabit yourself fully.
This talk is warmly open to all, including the spiritually curious, existing witchcraft practitioners, those exploring their bodies for healing and aliveness and everyone in between. This talk isn’t aimed at titillation, rather thinking about agency and pleasure: where we can find it, and how to cultivate it.
The speaker
Ellie Howell (they/them) is a writer and witch whose practice centres on somatic magick and the body as sacred instrument. Their work explores the intersections of erotic mysticism, embodied gnosis and literary form. Alongside their writing, Ellie offers trauma-informed bodywork, spellcraft and is currently training in ceremonial yoni massage alongside their existing practice.
